KARESZ (Public Road Data Collection System)

In 2013 the Budapest Közút Ltd. decided to develop a 3D data collection - data processing system which ensures the survey of the road network of the capital city as a whole and, if required, it makes a survey of other locations and uploads the data thus obtained in a database with geodetic precision. The essence of the measuring method is that an instrument suite, which can be installed on a car/ship or on any other vehicle and which is composed of a high precision 3D laser scanner, cameras and a precision navigation system, while proceeding along the roads of the city, takes pictures and 3D point clouds and as a result of the data obtained this way, every road, building and structure becomes not only visible but also measurable and analysable.
